Responding to the spread of misinformation

23-06-2025

Dear LGBT+ community, friends, and partners,

As an organization, we don’t usually make public statements about incidents involving LGBT+ people or the support we provide. That’s because our first priority is always the safety, dignity, and privacy of the individuals involved. We never want to expose someone to further harm or make them more vulnerable by sharing details without their consent.

That said, in response to recent claims that civil society organizations are not responding to incidents affecting LGBT+ people, we want to clarify that in the recent case being discussed, our organization has been actively engaged. We’re in direct contact with the trans person involved, as well as with Right Side NGO and relevant human rights institutions, to make sure the person receives the support they need.

We kindly ask everyone to be mindful when sharing information, especially when it’s unverified. Even well-intentioned posts can unintentionally cause harm or endanger someone’s well-being.

In the future, if similar incidents occur, it’s important to reach out to us or other organizations working in the field before raising public alarm. This allows us to receive and verify the information, and if needed, organize a quick and effective response.
