Recap | November 2024
November was an important month for Pink, with many events and activities. We present some of them in this Recap.
Hate Crimes Report
November 16 is the International Day for Tolerance, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of tolerance in society.
Each year, ahead of the day, OSCE/ODIHR publishes data on hate crimes recorded in member states. In 2023, 52 cases were reported in Armenia, 49 of which targeted LGBT+ individuals.
Pink’s data analysis shows that law enforcement agencies not only refuse to recognize hate-motivated crimes as such and fail to provide them with appropriate legal classification, but also continue practices of victimization, victim blaming, and justifying hate crimes.
Activist Greta Thunberg at Pink

As part of her visit to Armenia, we had the opportunity to host activist Greta Thunberg.
At Pink, we organized a meeting between Greta and our activists, during which her activist journey and the current situation in Armenia were discussed.
Both Greta and the local activists had the chance to ask each other questions, share experiences, and exchange stories.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of activists’ well-being and self-care. Greta shared her personal approaches to managing stress and practicing self-care.
We extend our gratitude to Greta Thunberg for raising Armenia’s critical issues on international platforms and for showing her solidarity with the LGBT+ movement.
Visit at Council of Europe
We are honored to be part of the 25th Anniversary of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Strasbourg. This high-level event brought together influential voices from across the globe, where Pink’s executive director, Hripsime Kizogyan attended.
Reflecting on the impact of the Commissioner’s office over the past 25 years and looking forward to future challenges, it was inspiring to hear from former Commissioners and leaders from various international organizations.
Later the organization’s director participated in the civil society briefing for the Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe, ahead of the Committee of Ministers Human Rights Meeting to discuss the state’s obligation to implement the recommendations of Oganezova v. Armenia ECHR case.
Creative Voices Against Gender-Based Violence

“Creative Voices Against Gender-Based Violence” conference summarized the outcomes of the professional courses organized by Pink. The courses included advanced trainings in graphic design, web design, and social media marketing, enabling participants to gain professional skills and explore new opportunities to apply their expertise in these fields.
The participants of the conference were welcomed by the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Netherlands, Thymen Kouwenaar. Following his address, representatives of Pink, with the support of the trainers, facilitated the event.
The day was filled with discussions and workshops during which participants created materials on the topic of gender-based violence. The completed works will soon be published on our platforms as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
The event also served as a platform for collaboration between young professionals and organizations.
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

November 25 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which also launches the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about gender-based violence and emphasize the necessity of taking steps to eliminate it. This year, the 16 Days are observed under the slogan, “Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls.”
It is important to recognize that the campaign not only addresses the elimination of discrimination against women but also highlights the issues faced by other systematically neglected groups.
