The history of IDAHOBIT in Armenia
On May 17th the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is marked around the world. Since 2010 Pink has initiated various events in the framework of IDAHOBIT. The events started with Rainbow flash mob, during which rainbow-colored balloons were released into the sky in the center of Yerevan and other parts of the city in solidarity with LGBT people. When marking IDAHOBIT, it has always been and still is essential for Pink to raise awareness around the public about LGBT issues, properly handle its strategic litigations, and organize various events for the community members.
As the events became more varied over the years, Pink started celebrating IDAHOBIT for a week instead of a day. We continue to organize various events to promote the protection of the human rights of LGBT people in Armenia.
This year, Pink made a video that presents the history of IDAHOBIT in Armenia from 2010 to the present. The video shows footage from events organized annually by Pink as part of IDAHOBIT.
