On December 17, an event dedicated to the 18th anniversary of the work of Pink Human Rights Defender NGO took place in Yerevan. The event brought together the organization’s staff members, partners, supporters, and community representatives to collectively reflect on the path traveled, achievements, challenges, and the vision for the future.

The event opened with welcoming remarks summarizing Pink’s 18 years of struggle, resilience, and institutional development. This was followed by the screening of a specially prepared animated video, which symbolically presented the organization’s values, the evolution of the movement, and the strength of the community.

One of the key segments of the event was the presentation of the organization’s financial and programmatic overview. The Pink team presented a summary of project areas, implemented initiatives, and the overall financial situation, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the organization’s work. This was followed by a reflection on different phases of the organization’s activity, highlighting the challenges Pink has faced over the years and the ways these challenges have been addressed. The presented timeline once again underscored that Pink’s work has consistently responded to social and political changes, while keeping the rights and safety of LGBT+ people at its core.

Team members also spoke about support for community initiatives and the promotion of queer culture, presenting the various events and initiatives focused on culture and the arts, as well as the experience and approach to providing sub-grants. During the evening, the organization’s successful programs and key milestones were also highlighted, including IDAHOBIT events, the Rainbow Forum, reports, camps, and coming-out initiatives.

Special attention was given to the work carried out in Armenia’s regions. Team members shared the history and development of regional communities and emphasized the importance of ensuring access to support and services for LGBT+ people outside of Yerevan.

At the conclusion of the event, guests were given the opportunity to make speeches, congratulations, and the exchange of experiences. The evening ended with refreshments, an anniversary cake, and networking, once again highlighting Pink’s contribution to the strengthening of the LGBT+ community and movement.

Pink’s 18th anniversary was not only a celebration, but also a reminder of the ongoing work aimed at advancing equality, dignity, and the protection of human rights in Armenia.
