Recap | December 2024
Summing up the last month of the year, we present the key events. In December, campaign of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence continued, and on significant days, the organization issued special messages.
World AIDS Day

On World AIDS Day, we must confront the truth: the Armenian government has failed in AIDS response. Stigma and discrimination remain unchecked, care and support are underfunded.
World AIDS Day is not about HIV testing or prevention—it’s time to hold the government accountable and demand the comprehensive care, support, and rights every individual deserves. This fight is about justice—nothing less. Armenia is facing serious challenges that demand immediate action.
This is about justice, dignity, and respect for everyone. It’s time to stand up, speak out, and demand the change we deserve.
We appreciate our volunteers

Volunteers are essential, contributing their time, energy, and talents to strengthen organizational efforts and create meaningful change.
They truly shine during major events like our Rainbow Forum, the largest queer-activist gathering in Armenia. Their enthusiasm and dedication make these events more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Our volunteers are also actively engaged in various social initiatives and support programs across Armenia, bringing compassion and care in everything they do.
To our amazing volunteers: we admire your strength and patience. We love you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
International Human Rights Defenders Day

Human rights defenders work to promote and protect human rights. They stand up for the rights of others, making it essential to ensure their safety, as well as the safety of their families.
In 1998, the United Nations adopted the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, which legitimizes the work of human rights defenders and seeks to provide greater protection for their activities. Consequently, December 9 was designated as International Human Rights Defenders Day.
Human rights defenders often face threats not only from the state authorities but also from extremist groups. Women human rights defenders and those advocating for the rights of the LGBT+ community are particularly vulnerable to such threats.
This day serves as a reminder of the courage and dedication of those who risk their lives to uphold the fundamental rights of all people.
Human Rights Day

Let’s say it again: all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Let us repeat this and remind state institutions that equality, dignity, and justice are inseparable parts of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
LGBT+ individuals continue to be targets of discrimination and hatred without receiving effective protection from law enforcement and judicial bodies. Let us remind everyone that the state’s obligations to ensure the protection of human rights entail, first and foremost, a clear policy aimed at equality and tolerance. This policy, encompassing a multifaceted set of measures, primarily requires the adoption of comprehensive legislation—a step that remains unfulfilled.
December 10 marks International Human Rights Day. Every individual, regardless of any personal or social characteristic, must have an equal opportunity to exercise their rights and freedoms.
Relationships

We have prepared an Armenian quiz which is a checklist our relationship. The quiz allows to notice certain manifestations in the relationship that are important to pay attention to. It is important to understand what positive or problematic issues there are in order to develop the positive ones and work on or take steps towards the problematic ones.
In addition, we have also published important materials in Armenian about relationships, addressing the issues that can arise in relationships and what to do in such cases, especially how to seek support.
