Hostility towards LGBTI people is major problem in Armenia. EU Eastern Partnership report
Armenian authorities haven’t undertaken any measures to protect the rights of LGBTI people, while discrimination and hostility towards them continued to be a major problem, is stated in 2014 report of EU Eastern partnership in frames of Armenia.
In the report which was published on March 25 is noted, that Armenia still does not have a comprehensive legal framework against discrimination and is mentioned that human rights action plan only suggested assessing the compatibility of relevant Armenian legislation with international law and weighing the merits of adopting an anti-discrimination law.
A Human Rights Action Plan was adopted in February 2014. The report says, though Comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation is still missing, nevertheless some legislative measures were taken.
Thereby, EU reporters’ recommendation is to adopt and implement anti-discrimination law.
