Professor Paul Von Blum visits PINK Armenia

PINK Armenia had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Paul Von Blum, Senior Lecturer in African American Studies and Communication Studies at UCLA and lifelong civil rights activist, to the office on Friday, March 25, 2016.

Professor Von Blum was in Armenia to discuss his research and work in civil rights-social justice movements and the visual arts at various local universities and institutions.

Professor Von Blum has regularly spoken about the Armenian Genocide in his work to university and other audiences, as well as LGBTI rights, making his visit to PINK especially exciting.

His visit was facilitated by current PINK volunteer and UCLA Communication Studies alumnus, Kyle Khandikian.

Professor Von Blum spoke to staff members and volunteers about the organization, the work and advocacy that PINK is engaged in, and the situation of LGBTI people in Armenia. Professor Von Blum graciously also agreed to serve as guest speaker for PINK’s weekly “Queer Talks,” discussing his work as an activist and the various aspects of the struggle for LGBTI justice and equality to community members.

PINK Armenia is grateful to Professor Von Blum for his visit and endless support.
