June as Pride Month

June is the Pride Month to raise the visibility of the #LGBT+ community and celebrate achievements and progress, as well as raise awareness of the issues LGBT+ people face.

During thе month, the logos of major corporations are turning rainbow to show their solidarity and support of LGBT+ people, while we dedicate our colors to all those who are still on the journey to find courage to wave their own pride flag.

A number of cultural and social events were organized by Pink, some of which you can read about in this Recap.

Visit to Parajanov Museum

As part of our Pride Month program, we visited Sergey Parajanov’s Museum in Yerevan. During the visit, we discussed the great legacy of Parajanov, the influences and symbols in the works of the world-famous artist.

Although museum staff do not like to talk about the queer symbols in Parajanov’s works, they even resist it, but the artworks themselves speak volumes, even without commentary.

Pride Camp

The 4th annual Pride Camp was organized as part of Pride Month, with this year’s theme focusing on relationships and consent.

The camp brought together 16 LGBT+ individuals and supporters from Yerevan and regions. The theme allowed for the inclusion of queer and same-sex couples, who shared their experiences and thoughts about relationships. Participants also had the opportunity to ask psychologists questions about relationships. The camp’s agenda was filled with interesting exercises, interactive discussions, and some free time.

Pride Camp continues to be a safe place for the community to connect, socialize, and share experiences. LGBT+ relationships are rarely discussed publicly, so there are very few visible examples in our society. Therefore, it is up to us to learn and create a model of positive relationships for ourselves, and when we succeed, to share that model with others.

Rainbow Cupcakes

As part of the events program, we had a day to make Rainbow cupcakes. The event took place in a warm and cheerful environment, where everyone had the opportunity to create and express themselves.

Participants decorated cupcakes with bright and colorful rainbow creams, creating unique and beautiful designs. While decorating, participants shared their queer experiences, creating a cherished and safe environment.

The event not only gave participants an opportunity to express their creativity, but also strengthened community spirit by connecting everyone through shared stories and experiences.

Overall, the event turned out to be a memorable and impressive experience for all.

Celebrating the Pride Month

One of our spectacular meetings organized during the month was called Celebrating Pride Month. It brought together dozens of activists from regions and LGBT+ people. The event took place in a warm and active environment, where all attendees had space to get to know each other, spend productive time, socialize, and hear about the meaning of Pride Month.

The participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with like-minded people from different places, to talk about the topics they are interested in and to get to know the opinions and experiences of others through games.

The event not only gave the participants an opportunity to learn about the history of Pride Month, but also to celebrate and feel safer with each other.

Pride Marches

Pink representatives also participated in Moldova Pride and EuroPride.

The annual Pride March was held in Chisinau on June 16, uniting hundreds of activists from Moldova, Eastern Europe, and other countries. Once again, Moldova demonstrated that equality and diversity are the cornerstones of the country’s development.
Pink participated in this march alongside partner organizations of the Eastern European Coalition for LGBT+ Equality.

This year EuroPride took place in Thessaloniki, Greece on June 29 where our communications director participated in the Pride March together with other board members and representatives of ILGA-Europe.

Pride March is a symbol of hope and unity, reminding us that love will always conquer hate.
