Pink NGO has been included in the public councils of four ministries
In September of last year, the Government of the Republic of Armenia adopted a decision regarding the formation and operating procedures of public councils of ministers and government-subordinated bodies. According to this resolution, ministries were mandated to form new council memberships by the end of the year.
The announcements published by the ministries established specific criteria for applicant organizations and individual experts, including professional experience, implemented projects, and the scope of cooperation.
Certain ministries interpreted these criteria subjectively, requiring applicant organizations to provide contracts for projects previously implemented specifically with that ministry. This approach clearly indicated a tendency to fill the councils with “loyal” members. As a result, some of our partners were excluded from the process; however, through persistent efforts and documentation substantiating our extensive work and involvement in the field, we successfully secured our involvement in these councils. The only ministry that continued to insist on the prior contract requirement and subsequently rejected our application was the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
Consequently, representatives of Pink NGO are now included in the public councils of the following ministries:
- Ministry of Justice
- Ministry of Internal Affairs
- Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
- Ministry of Health
These are the key sectors in which Pink NGO conducts its activities. We hope that the ministries will prioritize the role of public councils and transform them into effective platforms for discussing issues rooted in human rights.
