The beginning of a new era
On December the 21st “Public Information and Need of Knowledge” NGO was celebrating its 5th anniversary which headline was “The beginning of new era”.
2007 was the year when three enthusiastic guys decided to create an organization which was supposed to go through a difficult way, and a work should have been done that had not been implemented in this scope yet. On December 14th, 2007 receiving registration certificate, we understood, that there is no way back, that PINK should have its big input for development of civil society and establishment of democracy in Armenia.
Each year the organization’s programs and activities have increased, the staff replenished with various specialists. From the first day young volunteers had their active involvement in organization’s activities, and since 2010 we have been hosting international volunteers from Sweden, USA, UK, Germany, Slovakia and other countries.
In the result of work PINK has done throughout the years, PINK got involved in local and international important networks’ work and today we already implement joint projects with experienced organizations in the sphere. PINK is a co-founder and a member of “Coalition to stop violence against women”, “Advocacy group on AIDS” and “Human Rights House”. Several donor organizations provided financial support during this period, due to which we organized informational-educational events in Armenia, implemented projects regarding prevention of sexually transmitted infections and human rights protection.
Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a special role in establishment and the development of our organization, which helped us to create «Information, Education, Communication» center and to expand our work in the regions of Armenia.
Human rights protection is of vital importance for our organization. The foundation of the organization has always pursued the objective of addressing human rights issues in our society.
The path of the organization during its 5 years of activities hasn’t always been smooth: Many challenges that we faced during these years constantly brought with them new questions and concerns. But the answer is obvious: “that which does not kill us makes us stronger”, – as Friedrich Nietzsche would say.
And here it is the beginning of new era, time to evaluate past experiences and successes, as well as time to lay the basis for new activities and future plans. We have already started the process of advocating for anti-discrimination law in Armenia, and in our future plans the component of having social-psychological support center for our beneficiaries is included.
May today mark the beginning of many new joys and accomplishments… and a continuation of all of the good things that have already been achieved.
