March 31 is the International Transgender Day of Visibility
March 31 is Transgender Day of Visibility — a day that provides an opportunity to amplify the voices of trans people and highlight the importance of gender diversity. This day is not only about visibility, but also a reminder that the fight for equality continues, especially in Armenia, where legal gender recognition remains an unresolved issue.
The research conducted by Pink Human Rights Defender NGO and Socioscope NGO presents the healthcare rights of transgender people and the practices of gender affirmation in Armenia.
When a person cannot reflect their identity in official documents, it is not just a technical barrier — it is a form of everyday discrimination. Trans people often face difficulties in employment, accessing healthcare services, and living freely and safely in society.
Legal recognition of trans identities is a necessary step to ensure people’s dignity, safety, and fundamental rights. Without it, discussions about equality remain incomplete.
Today, it is important not only to speak, but also to listen, support, and demand change.
