Statement by the UN Special Rapporteur on the pressures against Mamikon Hovsepyan
The UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights Defenders has expressed concern over the pressures exerted by the Ministry of Health against Mamikon Hovsepyan.
On the official social media pages of the Rapporteur, it was stated: “Hearing disturbing news that HRD Mamikon Hovsepyan, founder of Pink Armenia, has been publicly targeted by Armenia’s Ministry of Health, smeared & unlawfully suspended from the CCM, a key mechanism against HIV, TB & malaria, after denouncing abuses in the health sector. This attempt to silence an outspoken member of civil society is deeply concerning.”
LGBT+ History Month dedicated to trans people and health
This year, we dedicated LGBT+ History Month to trans people, gender affirmation practices and related health issues. Through a social media poster campaign, we presented to the trans community and their allies the key steps of the gender affirmation practice, highlighting the types of support that may be needed by those undergoing or preparing for the process, and emphasizing how important it is to stand by them when they need it the most.
The campaign concluded with four informational videos featuring specialists who presented available support mechanisms, ways to access professional counseling, and options for post-procedure care and assistance. English subtitles are available.
Winter camp for students
Pink is organizing an educational camp for students studying in helping professions. These include psychologists, counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, sexologists, lawyers, psychotherapists, and other professionals working in the fields of care and support. This is a wonderful opportunity for professional development, skill enhancement, and building valuable professional connections and networks.
